Brenda Fassie - "The Madonna of the townships"
I can't quite remember if it was through our Dad or Channel O or was it Rock Down Africa (RDA) on MNet that my sister and I got acquainted with Brenda Fassie, but we were immediately hooked!!! Even though we didn't understand the lyrics in some of her songs ("Nomakanjani", "Matsidiso", for eg.) we understood her energy, her smile and that twinkle in her eye which she never lost.
You left us too soon, Brenda. all the same, "Ngiyakuthanda"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Music is the universal language of mankind. ~Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, Outre-Mer
To be part of the afrorenaissance and make a meaningful contribution , Fela, his music, lyrics, political and human activist views ought to be studied religiously.
